Legacy & Contributions

She chose to return to her hometown instead of pursuing urban opportunities, deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship while daring to innovate, infusing new vitality into this ancient art form.
"Intangible cultural heritage is not about preserving the past, but innovating through inheritance. We must bring traditional bamboo weaving into modern life and help more people build better lives through this craft." — Yang Longmei
In 2020, leveraging her grandfather's Chongzhou Jijun Bamboo Products Factory with over 40 years of history, Yang established her ICH studio in Daoming Bamboo Art Village. The studio integrates cultural inheritance, craft experience, research programs, and product development, showcasing a full range of bamboo weaving works including daily necessities, cultural creatives, and landscape installations, alongside a supporting agritourism experience center called Youzhu Courtyard.
Embracing the innovative spirit of a young Party member, she pioneered the "Company + Base + Farmers" industrial model, creating home-based employment and stable income for over 3,000 local residents. She particularly focuses on elderly people, left-behind women, and people with mild disabilities, providing skill training and flexible employment opportunities to integrate ICH inheritance with rural revitalization.
Yang has represented Sichuan's cultural heritage and Chinese intangible cultural heritage in skill demonstrations across Russia, Germany, Morocco, the United Kingdom, Greece, and other countries and regions, bringing Daoming bamboo weaving to the international stage. Her story has been featured in major media outlets including People's Daily and China Central Television (CCTV), serving as a model for combining ICH inheritance with rural development.
By 2025, Yang has earned more than 20 major honors including Sichuan Model Worker and Sichuan's First Era Model. Beyond her personal achievements, she has led local communities to prosperity, breathing new life into Daoming bamboo weaving in the new era.
